ELLEN RUSSELL JACOBSON, M.D.

Ellen Jacobson, a West Nashville native, began her journey into medicine by volunteering to work for three summers in rural Latin America with Amigos de las Americas program doing vaccinations against childhood diseases and providing basic dental care. Her experience led to an interest in medicine which she pursued after graduating cum laude from the University of South where she was awarded a B.S. degree with dual majors in Spanish and Biology.
In 1982 she enrolled in the University of Tennessee Center for Health Science in Memphis where she was awarded her M.D. degree in 1986. While in medical school, she diagnosed a family member with a malignant form of skin cancer. This experience generated an interest in dermatology.

After 2 years at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, she entered the Dermatology Residency Program at the University of Tennessee. In 1991 she was certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

Among her many interests, she identifies family and her children at the top of a long list that also includes dogs, friends, tennis, reading, traveling and knitting.

Dr. Jacobson is very active professionally as evidenced by her membership in the following local, state and national organizations:
